TV/MUSIC: Daily Rock

The best thing about the White Stripes' appearance on The Daily Show last night, by the way the first music act to ever appear on the show, was Stephen Colbert's quip about the Stooges & the MC5. Colbert then countering with Rick Springfield on The Colbert Report was pretty hilarious, as was his bit on the death penalty. The Colbert Report has finally come into it's own of late, and is definitely worthy of it's heavy lead-in from The Daily Show. Both shows are must see tv.

And here's hoping that Stewart will continue to have music acts on his show, as I'm sure a Daily Show appearance will shoot to the top of the prestige list of shows to appear on. As for the wretched White Stripes, I stand by what I've said about them from day one: Jon Spencer, call your lawyers!

Hot if you like big smelly fat guys...

Are you mistaking him for Jack Black? I do have a thing for Vince Vaughn tho....so maybe I do like big fat guys. I'd like to think that Vince smells nice tho. I hope that Jen sees to that for me.

No mistaking, though Jack Black is a much better singer and guitar player than Jack White...

It's an interesting move for the Daily Show to put on music acts, but boy, oh frickin' boy, the White Stripes? Not a good omen for the future of that segment.

Taste-wise the White Stripes certainly weren't the best choice, but for high level "buzz" & hipness, it was a pretty shrewd move. If Stewart is indeed going to have music acts on regularly, then this was a pretty good way for him to make a splash with it and announce to the world that his show is serious about it. Cause for his target demographic, ain't nobody bigger than the White Stripes these days, sad to say...

Interesting experiment, I guess, though I can't see where The Daily Show needed any tinkering. It would be far more interesting if they book an actual MUSICAL guest. That thing they had on called "White Stripes" was so obviously a Bobcat Goldthwait performance piece that went on way past the point of still being amusing*.
