The great Andrew "Ace" Rogers was kind enough in his lifetime to tab some of the great Gene Pitney / Bacharach numbers...so they made it into my little kitchen table covers list. Nothing more fun than playing "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence" or "24 Hours from Tulsa" or "True Love Never Runs Smooth"...and trying (vainly, in every sense) to sound like Gene. Their music takes you utterly somewhere else, and beautifully back in time; one of the great combos ever. And another occasion for me to reiterate my call for Mr. Bacharach to be ushered into the R'n'R hall of fame, tout suite.

Great comments Stevo, but boy do I wish the phrase "guilty pleasure," as it pertains to music, could be wiped off the face of the earth. My motto is, don't ever apologize for the music you like or dislike. Gene Pitney was definitely one of the gods...
